Real Time Social Media Keywords, Hashtag And URL Tracking

July 20, 2015 by admin 4 Comments

In this post, I will describe a social media monitoring tool, Keyhole which you can use to track social media keywords, hashtags and URLs in real-time. By using Keyhole you can track keywords, hashtags and URLs in Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

You can use the basic tracking feature to track single keyword, hashtag or URL and you can use the advanced tracking feature to track multiple keywords, hashtags or URLs. In advanced tracking, you have the option to use OR function, AND function and Exact match function for keywords and hashtags. Also, you can add additional keywords or hashtags for tracking, exclude posts based on keywords or social media accounts and create custom URL and page title.

Here, I have created a beginner’s step by step guide and a tutorial to create basic tracking and advanced tracking in Keyhole.

1) Create basic tracking: After you have created your Keyhole account, click on My Tracks. Enter the keyword, hashtag or URL which you want to track in Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Then, click on Preview. For Example, here I am tracking the hashtag #socialmedia.

Keyhole generates a sample data for the hashtags and keywords you have entered. Click on Save sample and continue tracking button.

You have successfully created the basic tracking. Now, you can track in real-time posts, users, reach, impressions, number of posts in timeline view, recent top posts by retweets or likes or by Klout score. You can also view top sites by domain and page, original posts, retweets and replies, most influential people by average engagement, Klout score and frequency, recent users, origin of posts in a map, demographic information, related keywords and hashtags and top sources. You can track this data based on last day, last 7 days, last 14 days, last 30 days, last 60 days and last 90 days.

c) Exact match: To use Exact match function enter keywords or hashtags in quotes.

ii) Select social networks: You can track keywords, hashtags or URLs in Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or in all of them.

iii) Select social media accounts: You can track keywords, hashtags or URLs from a specific Twitter, Facebook or Instagram account and you also have the option to track keywords, hashtags or URLs from all accounts.

iv) Select date and time: You can select start date, start time, end date and end time for tracking.

v) Track more keywords and hashtags: You can add additional keywords or hashtags for tracking.

Hey, I want to ask. If I want to track a specific keywords that separated by space such as “hot sunny day”, what terms should I use? Do I get to use the terms of AND?

Pritha, you don’t need AND function for that. Simply enter the keyword: hot sunny day and select the social network.

For Example: For keyword: hot sunny day, here are the Twitter statistics:

Yes, but I don’t want the single “hot” or “sunny” or “day” included in the impression. Please advice

In that case, you need to use the AND function.
