Change Settings Of Yet Another Related Posts WordPress Plugin

admin · Dec 30, 2013 · Leave a Comment

In this post, I will discuss how you can change the settings for Yet another related posts (YARPP) WordPress plugin.  After installing the plugin, go to: Settings –> YARPP.

1) Pool section:

i) Disallow by Category or Disallow by Tag: You can select categories and tags for particular posts for which you don’t want to show related posts.

ii) Show password protected posts: Check this option to show password protected posts.

iii) Show only posts from the past: Check this option and from the drop down menu select the time period for which you want the related posts to be generated.

2) Relatedness section:

i) Match threshold: Select a match threshold number or related posts. Higher value of a match threshold will generate less related posts and lesser value might generate irrelevant posts. You can use 4 or 5 here.

ii) Title, body, categories and tags: For thee options you can select “consider”, “do not consider”, or “consider with extra weight”. You can select these options as per your requirements.

iii) Display results from all post types: You might want to leave this option un-checked. If you check this option, then a page can also be displayed in the related posts widget.

iv) Show only previous posts: You can leave this option unchecked as you already set the “Show only posts from the past” option in Pool section.

3) Display options:

i) Automatically display: Here, you can select the related posts to be automatically displayed for posts, pages and media.

ii) Also display in archives: If you check this option then, related posts will also be displayed for Archives section.

iii) Maximum number of related posts: Select the maximum number of related posts which you want to display. You can enter 5 here or you can enter any number of related posts to be displayed as per your needs.

iv) List, thumbnails or custom option: You can select the way in which you want to display the related posts. If you are concerned about the loading time of your blog then I would recommend the list option. Here, you can also edit the text which will b displayed in the related posts widget.

v) Display related posts in feeds: Check this option if you want related posts to be displayed in feeds.

When you are done, click on “Save changes”.
